Get a fresh start by cleaning your home. We understand that cleaning your home from top to bottom can be quite time-consuming and overwhelming. We are here to help with some tried-and-tested home cleaning tips and tricks!

You know that seemingly endless list of things to do around the house that you thought you’d get around to doing someday? Now’s a great time to tackle home cleaning head-on. In the face of Covid-19, it’s more important than ever to disinfect, clean, and sanitize. In fact, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended the disinfection of frequently touched surfaces and objects everyday to prevent the spread of the virus.

Regardless of whether you have an entire weekend to spare or a few minutes a day to freshen up, you can give your home’s trouble areas a refresh with these home cleaning strategies and how-to’s.

1. Tackle it one room at a time

You can start with the bathroom since it is typically the smallest room in the home. Create a room checklist as a guide for deep cleaning the places of your home that need the most attention. Focus on the parts of your home that have been neglected for the most time.

2. Clear the clutter

Make the most out of that natural spring urge to declutter items that are weighing you down. Then start fresh with a cleaner, more streamlined lifestyle! A good idea would be to segregate your belongings to: store, give away, put away, or trash.

3. Get all family members involved

Even the most unwilling family member can make a huge difference in lightening the load. Get your kids involved in the project by injecting some foolishness and fun into household chores. Some ideas:

  • Pump up the music!
  • Play follow the leader
  • Alphabetize the spice drawer
  • Play a sorting game
  • Have a sock-matching race

4. Organize

Focus on having proper places for things. Maintaining order is simpler when you have cabinets, bins or shelves to hold items. Assign areas in your home for books, or have a basket for kids’ toys. This will make sanitizing and cleaning easier.

5. Common areas

Common areas include the bathroom, kitchen, and living room. All these areas are in need of deep cleaning because they can be breeding grounds for viruses and bacteria. Instead of using a feather duster, use a damp rag to prevent releasing dust.

Be sure to use water and soap in very dirty areas, and don’t forget to wear disposable gloves. The Environmental Protection Agency shares a list of disinfectants that meets their standards and are effective for use against viruses and bacteria.

Stay safe and healthy!
