Women in Construction Month: Celebrating the Exceptional Women at Hogan Homes

The face of the construction industry is changing fast, and we’re proud to be leading that shift right here in South Texas. As we approach Women in Construction Month this March, we want to celebrate the incredible leaders who help us build quality homes and invite you to a special community event to learn more.

A New Era in Home Building

For a long time, people thought of construction sites as places only for men. That picture looks very different today. Women are now a vital part of the industry, taking on roles that range from architecture and engineering to project management and executive leadership.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the number of women in construction has been climbing steadily over the last decade. This is great news for homebuyers because it brings fresh perspectives to how homes are designed and communities are planned. When you have a diverse team, you get more creative ideas and better solutions for the way people actually live today.

At Hogan Homes, we know that building a house is about more than pouring concrete or framing walls. It is about creating a sanctuary for families. The women on our team understand that a home needs to be practical as well as beautiful. They bring an eye for detail and a focus on functionality that ensures your investment holds its value for generations.

Meet the Leaders Behind the Quality

We are incredibly proud to be a builder that is women-led. Our leadership team brings decades of combined experience and a deep love for the Coastal Bend community. These women are the reason we have maintained our reputation for integrity and quality for 60 years.

Diana Summers serves as our Chief Financial Officer. She oversees the company’s financial health and ensures we make smart investments that enable us to continue building superior homes at a fair value. Her strategic planning is the backbone of our stability, but her leadership extends far beyond our balance sheets. Diana has served on the Corpus Christi Type B and Business and Job Development Corporation Boards, where she applied her financial expertise to drive local economic growth and affordable housing. Her commitment to philanthropic leadership ensures that we aren’t just building houses, but actively strengthening the community we call home.

Kelsey Renteria is our Sales Manager. If you have ever walked into one of our model homes, you have likely felt the warmth and professionalism that Kelsey instills in her team. She guides our Sales Counselors to be helpful educators rather than just salespeople.

Danna Herbert acts as our Comptroller. In construction, there are a million moving parts, and Danna manages the critical accounting functions that keep everything on track. Her precision mirrors the attention to detail we put into every corner of your home.

Shana O’Connors is our Operations Auditor. Shana plays a massive role in quality control. She ensures that our operational standards are met across the board so that we consistently deliver on our promises to you.

These leaders do more than just manage their departments. They mentor the next generation of professionals and foster a culture where every team member feels valued. Their dedication is a big reason why we have been recognized as the Best of the Best Homebuilder for so many years.

Designed for How You Actually Live

One of the biggest benefits of having strong female leadership is the influence on home design. We understand that a home needs to work for real life. It has to handle the chaos of a school morning, the relaxation of a Sunday afternoon, and everything in between.

This is why Hogan Homes are designed for optimal functionality. We focus on the details that make daily life easier and more organized. You will find features like drop zones right inside the garage entry. This gives you the perfect place to leave backpacks, shoes, and keys so they do not clutter the kitchen counter.

We also include spacious pantries that make meal planning easier and ideally located laundry rooms that save you from hauling baskets across the house. We know that organization brings peace of mind.

Our approach also extends to energy efficiency. We use energy-efficient appliances and build products that not only lower your utility bills but also create a healthier living environment. When you walk into one of our homes, you can feel the difference that thoughtful, family-oriented design makes. It is elegant yet practical, ensuring your home is ready for you and yours to own and enjoy.

Join Us for a Special Event on March 5th

We believe in lifting others in our industry. That is why we are hosting a special Women in Construction Training Event on Thursday, March 5th. This event is a fantastic opportunity to network, learn, and celebrate the contributions of women in our local building community.

The event runs from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM at our Kings Landing model home located at 1414 Jack Chesney Street in London, Southside Corpus Christi. We’ve put together a great session with lunch and some helpful training, and it’s also a perfect chance for us to highlight the incredible local women vendors who help us build quality homes every single day.

Whether you are already working in construction or are simply interested in learning more about the opportunities in this field, we would love to see you there. It is a time to share knowledge, build connections, and support the growing network of women who are building our community.

Building a Stronger Community Together

Events like this are essential because construction can still be an intimidating field to enter. By creating spaces for mentorship and connection, we can break down barriers and show that there is a place for everyone in this industry.

We rely on a vast network of partners to build our neighborhoods. From the architects who draw the plans to the tradespeople who lay the foundation, every role matters. Highlighting our women vendors is our way of saying thank you and acknowledging their expertise. These partnerships are built on trust and a shared commitment to quality craftsmanship. When you buy a Hogan Home, you are supporting this entire ecosystem of local professionals who take pride in their work.

Investing in People and Quality

For 60 years, we’ve known that building great homes starts with building up the people who create them. We know that happy, supported employees build better homes. By encouraging an inclusive environment where women can lead and thrive, we ensure that our company remains innovative and forward-thinking.

This commitment extends to the homes we build. We focus on creating neighborhoods that enhance your lifestyle and location. Whether it is a community with scenic bay views in Portland or a quiet, tree-lined street in Rockport, our goal is to build places where families can grow and thrive for generations. We are deeply rooted in the South Texas community, and we plan to be here for decades to come.
